We took a cab, all five of us in one, to the WATER CASTLE aka Tamansari, which literally means beautiful garden in Javanese.
Built in mid 18th century, the Taman Sari had multiple functions, such as a resting area, a workshop, a meditation area, a defense area, and a hiding place. - wiki
I think this is the east gate mentioned in wiki.
Houses are sooooo near the water castle.
This is where the Sultan stood to see the women bathe.

We took a short walk to the Sultan's Palace aka Kraton.
We followed the tour, and found out a lot of interesting facts.

Leaves represents the daughters, and fruits are the sons. The stems obviously represents the wives!
About the cage, they will place items like make up, pen, cash, jeweleries etc for the baby to choose from. Make up means she'll be pretty. Books = smart....
That's how the do the batik. According to Daddy, they'll use wax to cover up the area/patterns, and they'll dye the cloth. And remove the wax after that.
Carriage to carry the bride and groom. They need like thirty people or so to carry the whole thing! Bride in front, and groom behind.
We left the place and took a short walk before finding a cab.
Oh!! Another means of transport in Jogja is the horse carriage! But we didn't get to sit it. Daddy says the horse v.poor thing.
Then we went to Vredeburg. Think it's a museum, but they were closed for the day because of their fasting.
But the nicer policeman/security guard allowed us to take pictures.
We went to Malioboro mall for lunch. Malioboro is actually like our Orchard road, it's the main area. That's why we kept going back there.
We shopped, while Kor and Daddy sat for a cup of coffee. And we joined them later.
We took a cab to Saphir Square, where there were many shops selling batiks. Mommy and Daddy bought a top/shirt each. They had a supermart, and a bowling alley there.
We went back to Malioboro for dinner.

We took a cab back to the hotel. Kor went to have a long bath, while Cheryl and I took pics at the swimming pool. It's so pretty at night!

The Bathing Pool
This part was formerly a pleasure place for the royal family. Consists of two bathing pool that are separated with a 2-storey building. From this building the Sultan watched all the women swimming in the outer pool. Then he might ask some of them to accompany him into the inner pool. The water sprouts from a forming animal statue into the pool. The pool is also adorned with some big flowerpot.
